Command Materia (sparkly little yellow balls):

Throw -  Throw becomes Coin after it levels up, and you can use Throw and Coin.  Throw, you can throw items from your inventory, and Coin, you can throw Gil.

Sense - "Sense" an enemies, HP, MP, Level and weaknesses

Morph -  You can turn any enemy except bosses, into item if they are weak enough, if person that is trying to morph, doesnt morph it, they hit the enemy.

Enemy Skill - you must learn special skills from enemies to use them

Double-Cut - Turns into 4x Cut after it levels up

Mime - Mimes the last attack your party member did

Manipulate - try to manipulate an enemy, if successful, you can control them.  you must do this to get some enemy skills

Steal - "Steal" from enemies.  After a level up, it becomes Mug, and you attack while you steal

Slash-All - slashes all enemies.  turns into flash after level up.

W-Summon - summon 2 things in the same turn

W-Item - use 2 items in the same turn

W-Magic - use 2 magics in the same turn

Magic Materia (nice green little balls):

Fire - You can use Fire, Fire2, and Fire3, if you level up to get that magic.

Lightning - You can use Bolt, Bolt2, and Bolt3, if you level up to get that magic

Ice - You can use Ice, Ice2, and Ice3, if you level up to get that magic

Ultima - You can use Ultima, if you level up to get that magic

FullCure - You can use FullCure, if you level up to get that magic

Restore - You can use Cure, Cure2, Cure3, and Regen, if you level up to get that magic

Revive - You can use Life, and Life2, if you level up to get that magic

Heal - You can use Poisona, Esuna, and something else, if you level up to get that magic

Shield - You can use Shield, if you level up to get that magic

Poison - you can use Bio, Bio2, Poison and Bio3, if you level up to get that magic

Summon Materia (nice little red balls that summon big thingys):

Bahamut - non-elemental damage to all enemies.  bahamut comes out of a black hole, flaps his wings a few times, charges and shoots a "Mega Flare" at your opponent(s)

Neo Bahamut - non-elemental damage to all enemies.  a big piece of rock holding your opponent(s) floats up and a "Neo" Bahamut is there and he charges and shoots a "Giga Flare" at the opponent(s) and the rock blows up or something and the opponent(s) come crashing down

Bahamut ZERO - non-elemental damage to all enemies.  the view shoots out into space and a 6 winged version of Bahamut comes from the left and charges up a really powerful "Tera Flare" and shoots it down at your opponent(s)

Shiva - Ice elemetnal damage.  Shiva uses an attack called "Diamond Dust" which she shoots at your opponent(s)

Ifrit - Fire elemental damage.  Ifrit comes out of the ground, close up of his face and his crooked teeth, and he flies past your opponents with an attack called "Hell Fire."

Ramuh - Lightning elemental damage.  Ramuh comes out of the ground and is on a tower of dirt and charges up his staff and holds it in the air and attacks all enemies with an attack named "Judgement Bolt"

Choco/Mog - Wind elemental damage.  A chocobo and a mog come riding in and tackle into every enemy with an attack called "Death Blow!!" another attack is, a big fat chocobo slams on all the enemies

Knights of the Round - a bunch of knights come out and beat the complete crap out of every enemy on the screen.  at least 5000 to each

Typoon - wind damage.  if you played FF6, you'll instantly recognize this little fellow.  He's Chupon from FF6.

Independent Materia (purple balls):

Chocobo Lure - lures chocobos to catch them

Counter - counters after every physical attack done to that one character with the materia ball next to it on the materia equip screen

Underwater - you can go underwater to fight the Emerald Weapon

HP Plus - At level 1 you get a 10% plus in HP, and every level after it, it goes up 10% until level 5

MP Plus - Same as HP Plus, but it does it with MP

Speed Plus - Same as HP Plus, but it does it with Speed

Luck Plus - Same as HP Plus, but it does it with Luck

HP-MP Switch - HP is switched with MP, making the maximum MP you can use 9999, and the maximum HP 999

Cover - block physical attacks for other people in your party.  great for characters trying to learn Limit Breaks

Counter Attack - counters physical damage with a regular attack

Enemy Lure - lure enemies...luck -1

Enemy Away - less encounters with enemies....luck +1

Gil Plus - doubles the gill you get after a battle

Exp. Plus - doubles the exp everyone gets after a battle

Support Materia (blue balls):

All - You can use a magic on all enemies as many times as one of these materia had leveled up

Mega All - can use any type of materia and same thing that you do with All

MP Turbo - uses extra MP to make attack of a magic or summon more destructive

Quadra Magic - Paired Magic used 4 times  Note: cant be used with Knights of the Round

Elemental - if you junction this type of materia with a Magic materia, on your weapon, you will attack with that element in your weapon and can either heal, or do more damage to an enemy when you attack.  If you put it on your armor, you will be able to get less damage from, then get 0 damage from, then absorb the element you junctioned that materia with

Magic Counter - like Counter, but you can counter when you get attacked with Magic or Summon

Added Effect - add the effect of a status changing materia, like poison, or other types

Sneak Attack -  allows the warer of this to make the first attack of the battle with combined materia like it was a pre-emptive attack

Final Attack - when a character dies, they can use the magic or summon that this materia is junctioned with
